Daniel and his class finished learning (Sium) Humash Bereshit - חומש בראשית (Book of Genesis) - Party!!! This is very different from the way I learned in school, and it is quite amazing that they finished reading and laining and learning the subjects in a single year (this is first grade mind you!) - this is a huge amount of material for this age, to me it is an amazing achievement for the kids and staff!
Congratulations Daniel! we are so proud!!! Thank you T"T Dvir (Talmud Torah) - such an amazing school with a staff of people who really love the children, and it shows in everything they do. A school to which the kids love to go, and wake eager for another (long) day of learning...
Here are pictures, and you can see videos in the attached link Videos
Haleli Zion started kindergarten for the first time (Gan Yafit :-)) - she was very excited and couldn't wait for us to leave the premises... Daniel started 2nd grade a few days ago (they start on Alef Elul) in the Talmud Tora in Shaalbim. Mia started 3rd grade (they grow up so fast!) in Nehalim It was a lot of fun, and a little sad, saying goodbye to all of them this morning. It made us really happy to see that they all were happy to go back to school (we'll see how the day went later on).
It's friday, on this years Nidche Purim, so today is the day were the kids go to kindergarden / school in their costumes... Haleli Zion is staying home today so no custome, and she is a little miffed, but Daniel showed her some of his Teenage Mutant Ninja tricks which she liked a lot!
Daniel just had his 5th birthday (more on that in an upcoming post), one of the presents didn't make it in time, and that was his new skateboard. Grandpa Yehuda really outdid himself this time, it took longer since he had to go to a few stores to assemble the kit including the protective gear and even a special sack to store them in - too bad Mia and Daniel didn't understand how to open it and decided to slice it open with their scissors... :-( So immediately we started to teach Daniel how to skate, not that my father and I are accomplished at this sport, but still, the basics are pretty, well, basic, and today I took Daniel out for a session again. He was very upbeat and dedicated to it before he got to thirsty and anyway had to go to kindergarten. Still he managed to get some mileage on it and even skated down several speed-bumps with success! A small technical update: I'm consolidating all the family blogs into one http://kids.eshel.us all the old blogs will redirect automatically to the new one.
